Farewell to Smurf

As many of you know, My car got stolen a couple weeks ago. The little electric blue honda civic. I was planning on writing a blog with pictures of it but the stupid insurance company ruined that idea. but anyway...

It was a beautiful fall morning in Provo Utah. I was getting up at my usual time of 8:15 to get ready to go to class. I walked outside to drive to school (yes I know I only live 2 blocks from campus, I am just that lazy ha ha) and my car was no where to be found. At first I just felt stupid. Why could I not remember where I parked my car. I walked around for a little bit and then I remembered exactly where I parked it and it wasn't there. So, of course, I called my mom not knowing what to do. I then called University Security to see if they towed it for some reason. Once they discovered they didn't have it, they gave me the number to the police department. At this point I was missing class and kinda in disbelief with the whole situation. Two police officers came over and asked me questions for the police report and then left. So not knowing what to do next I just went to my lab (thanks to larry because he gave me a ride).

All my textbooks and assignments were in the civic so I went up and told the teacher why I didn't have the Lab sheet to turn in. She was nice enough to give me full points. I had so much other stuff in there. Softball clothes, shoes, books, cd's, etc. I went on with my day. Went to softball, lifting and study hall and I was relatively happy even with my current problem. Nobody I told could believe that it really happened. Isn't Provo supposed to be safe???

While I was getting ready for bed I realized I had been lucky to take a couple things out of the car a few days before. First I had my tithing money in the car but had taken it out about 3 days before. I also my big set of scriptures had been in my car but I took those out too. Then it hit me, there were other things I didn't take out. First, my little seminary scriptures that I take with me when I travel were in there. My Journal was in there and also a ring Larry got on his mission in Brazil was in the cup holder. The Journal and the ring were probably the two things in the car that had the most personal value. It made me really sad.

Then 5 days later I got a call saying they found my car. It turns out it was up in Salt Lake and completely stripped. At this point I was just praying that some of my stuff was in the car still. My dad went up a few days later to just see what was left of the car. He called me and told me it was worse than he thought. Not only was the engine completely gone, but things from the inside were gone, panels were gone, they even cut the top off ha ha. Then, he told me nothing was in the car. I was really sad but figured that it was going to be like that. Then my dad called me back a couple hours later and told me that there was a few things left in the car. My journal and Scriptures were on the back seat along with some of my other stuff. I was really happy!

The next day me, my mom and mitch drove up to Salt Lake to see the car, take pictures, and look for Larry's ring and anything else that my dad might have missed. We got up there and that is when it got complicated. When we got to the place where the "car was" they guys working were so rude to us. Then they told us we needed to go into the police department to get a release signed. We did that and then went back. Then after about 20 minutes of them looking through paper work they told us that the insurance company already took the car. I got really mad. My mom was mad too because she had specifically told the insurance that they couldn't take it until she released it to them and she wasn't going to release it until I got to look at it. I was really bummed. It also ruined my plan of posting the pictures of my stolen car... But I didn't get to look through it which was a bummer because I felt bad about the ring.

So that is the story about my car. It was sad for me. I really loved that car. The ironic thing is that a day or two before it was stolen, I told larry that I would be so sad the day I had to sell that car. and then I didn't even get to sell it :( It has been a real hassle for my parents too. Thanks for dealing with this problem so well mom and dad. I appreciate it. But I did learn a couple things from this experience...

1. Don't leave things in your car (especially things that are important or mean anything to you).
2. Provo is not as safe as everyone thinks it is.
and 3. Even though I loved that car, It could be ALOT worse. Cars are nice to have and make life easier (along with other things in life), but in reality, There are other things that mean so much more like Family, friends, and many other things. It was really inconvenient and mean for that person to steal my car but life could be worse.

So my car situation. Other then that, My life is pretty much the same. Lots of school, softball and fun! Life is good:)

Life...

Life can be so frustrating sometimes. I am not complaining about my life or anything because I have a great one but more just stating a fact. Why doesn't life just go as we plan. Some times things just don't work out the way we want them too... why is that? I know we need trials and things to make us grow, but I am not just talking about that. Little things... I don't really know where I am going with this post. This week I have just been a little frustrated.

Why can't everyone just treat each other the same? why are people so fake and/or cocky? Why don't I have more money... (ha ha k that last one is just complaining about my lack of money) but seriously. People can be so mean to each other just to get a head. When we are kids we all get along. why does that have to change? why can't we all just never grow up... like Peter Pan? The other day I went back to the neighborhood I grew up in. It was kinda weird walking around the yard and seeing things that brought back little memories. Life was so simple then... Man I miss those days.

K this post kinda turned into a "poor me" thing which is not what I wanted. but yeah I have just been thinking about how much my life has changed, even within the past year...crazy. I feel like I really haven't done anything super exciting with my life yet... any ideas? ha ha well sorry this post is kinda lame and not exciting but people have been telling me I need to update so I just decided to type what I have been thinkin about lately. Life is Crazy... But I better get used to it:)

Happy Birthday Wyatt!!!!!

Today is my little cousin Wyatt's first birthday. He was born a year ago today and then five and a half months later he passed away when a virus attacked his little heart. He holds a special place in everyone in our families heart! We all learned so much from him and think of him often. I have my favorite picture of him by my bed. Every morning when I wake up I see it and it helps me remember how grateful I am that I know that families are forever. I am so lucky to have the gospel in my life. Wyatt wasn't on earth with us very long. But how grateful I am for him.

this is the picture by my bed...

Today we are letting blue balloons go in memory of Wyatt. Nat, Addie and Jakey let some go earlier this morning before they went back up to Idaho. My mom told me that when they were letting them go, Jakey was playing with the balloon and loving it. Addie let hers go and then went over to Jakey and said, "Jakey you need to let go of your balloon so it can go up to Wyatt and he can play with it." I thought that was so cute! Even though Addie is little, Wyatt still touched her life like he did the rest of us. She talks about him and says how cute he is when she sees pictures of him.

This week I have seen butterflies at practice almost every day. Everytime I see a butterfly I think about Wyatt (as I am sure most of our family does). I always get a smile on my face whenever I see one. To me, Wyatt will always be an example and a reminder of Christ and how I need to live. I am so lucky to have the family I have! I am so thankful for Wyatt! I love and miss him. HAPPY BIRTHDAY WYATT!!!

Me and Wyatt

Invest in the Quest!!!

Yesterday I went to the BYU football game. The last time I went to a BYU game I was probably like 7. So it has been a while. The night before the game my softball team got together and made these shirts. As you all know, the football teams theme for this year is "The Quest." We went to a fireside for all the athletes last sunday where the football team explained the theme wasn't just about the Quest to win but the Quest of perfecting ourselves and becoming more and more like Christ (it was an amazing fireside... all the football players sang Armies of Helamen. It was pretty neat.) So we decided to make the shirts spell out "Invest in the Quest." It took us forever to make the shirts! Seriously like hours but it was fun. We had music going and all of us were painting.... Yeah it was a party.
Then, the next day we had an Athlete party thing before the game. They fed us all and then gave us tickets for the game. It was kinda fun and the food was great, like always. Then we all went to the stadium. We were on the field while the boys were warming up and then we were the "tunnel" when they came back out on the field. We also had front row seats while the team did the Haka. The faces they make were so funny! I was laughing out loud! Isn't it supposed to be intimidating?...
It was way fun tho. The game got really hot and I wanted to leave after we scored the first two touch downs but it was still way fun! BYU fans are crazy! and the whole time I kept thinkin... I can't believe my uncles, Doug and Kurt, are like these crazy fans ha ha (Just kidding Guys). GO BYU FOOTBALL!!!!

HA HA HA

Jill and Nat... you have to do it again....

Tagged???

K kate I am doing this for you... I hope I do this right because I have never been "tagged" before ha ha as most of you know I suck at this whole blogging thing ha ha But I will try to follow the rules of the blogging world.

I've been tagged! The Rules are... tell about 6 quirks of yours and then Tag 6 fellow bloggers to do the same, be sure to leave a comment to let them know.

1. Mouth noises... you have a problem with eating right? then don't eat around me. You will die. I had a roommate once that had that problem and there were multiple occations that I was about to rip her head off because of the way she talked and ate. I have no sympathy for people that can't figure out how to eat, talk, or just swallow in general... Burping is included... just don't do it around me.

2. I hate girls... yes I know I am a girl. But I hate how girls think and act. Why does everything have to be the end of the world? Drama Drama Drama! girls should just handle things like guys do. when guys have a problem they can get over it so much faster. girls cause drama by over thinking everything. If he doesn't Text you back... HE IS PROBABLY BUSY. Get over it. If a friend doesn't answer your phone call... It doesn't automatically mean that she is mad at you!!!

3. I love things that have fake cheese... Craft singles!! yummy! velveta mac and cheese!!! anything that is processed I love. Yeah I know everyone thinks it is gross but I love it!

4. My back is really ticklish... but not in the normal way. When people talk near my back it makes me squirm. It is a Vance thing I guess. All my siblings are the same way. Wispering is the worst. When I am in class and someone starts wispering behind me, I can't sit still. It is a curse...

5. Well Angie Quiocho told me to put this next one down, I don't know if it is a quirk but it is something I now have to do every day... when I play softball, practice or game, I have to put zinc oxide on my nose... Everyone makes fun of me because I look like a tourist but Chris makes me do it. My nose still gets red but whatever ha ha I also am always wearing a head band to keep my hair back. It is the only way it stays out of my face. Some days it is blue and some days it is white.

6. Cottage cheese!!! I love Cottage cheese. I put it on everything now. I used to never ever eat it. But now I put it on sandwhiches, salads, potatos, pretty much anything. It is like ranch! it goes with everything. I used to get grossed out when my family would mix cottage cheese and salsa and eat it with chips. Well now I eat that all the time. I highly recommend it to everyone!!!

I probably have alot more but that is all I can think of ha ha and I fulfilled the tagging request ha ha so now I tag... Nat, Jill, Jess, Kristie, E, and Steph. Have so much fun!!!
